The Family #GMH

This isn’t my story. That’s the first thing to note. The second thing to note is nothing else but the story.

This is about a boy, let me call him Shawn. Shawn is tall and handsome, is filled with talent and is unique. Shawn’s a student of BITS PILANI K.K.Birla Goa Campus, who was pursuing dual degree, one being B.E Electronics and Electrical and the other being of Love. He was in love with a girl studying in same campus. It had almost been a year, to be precise 11months and 6 days. They had been together all this time. From partying, playing, celebrating to the times of sorrows, bad results and injuries. Happiness and Sadness, they knew how to tackle each of them when they were together. They looked good as a couple, as everyone also said…

This 7th day of 11th month something happened that he might never forget. His girlfriend called him near C Mess at 12.30pm. He had also taken C Mess because of her. He had just woke up an hour ago or so and he wasn’t fully awake. But, seeing that he gets to see his love in the morning itself was nice thing to happen. Continue reading

Dimensional Analysis

“You really shouldn’t be doing this.” said Ronald to Dr. Andrew, his friend of 15 years. Both of them had gone to college together, and had passed with the highest honours in physics, a subject both of them lived for. It was this love for physics which had thrown them together in college, and they had stayed friends ever since.

“Why shouldn’t I, after all, it was I who discovered how to travel to parallel universes, so I think I can be trusted enough to use this gadget properly,” replied Andrew

“But it hasn’t even been tested yet, who knows what might go wrong with it, you can even lose your life, and even if you do travel to another universe, what if you can’t get back.” Ronald said. Continue reading

The Day I Got Caught #FML

Oh what a beautiful day it was. 2nd day of SPREE 2011(for the uninitiated, SPREE is our college sports fest). I woke up late, enjoying the fact that I could sleep in, the day being a holiday. Missed breakfast and went straight to SAC Lawns to get a bite to eat from the crappy food stalls that had been set up(in my defence, I WAS HUNGRY). The sun was shining down, and there was a spring in my step. Mostly that was because I was waiting for the day to be over so I could go to Bogmalo, the beach nearby(it was hot that day, and I really needed a beer). I spent some of my time at the stalls, and then went back to my room(AH7-145, if anyone wants to pay me a visit). The only thing I could think about doing in my room was watching a movie. I hadn’t watched one in a long time, so I decided to watch 9, the amazing adventure animation movie. Long story short, I spent the day in my room, waiting for the time when I could leave. Finally the time came. We left for the beach at about 6.30(or was it 7?? I don’t really remember). Continue reading

Life, as you DON’T see it #GMH

“Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more; it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”

-Macbeth(William Shakespeare)
There was a time when all my thoughts were aligned in the aforesaid direction;when I lost hope and taught myself that life is  just a degraded piece of metal in its rusting phase. If something moves, its shadow moves along with it,wherever it goes. Both have the same form and they are meant to be together.People ubiquitously believed that life was the actual object which was moving;the one which had tangible substance in it, and they thought that everything in life can be measured so.But,little did they realize that life was indeed the shadow which accompanied the object, whose predefined errand was to be a shameless assistant who follows the master everywhere,no matter whatever is being done to itself,no matter how tough its path is,despite the master moving through smoothly, and yet having no substance in it at all. This realization took its time in me and that is when I began to reflect upon this entire entity called LIFE.

The Day I had “TEAR”W………#FML

Damn it!!!!! I said to myself while slowly removing my index fingers from my ears. Something which had become a routine exercise after coming to BITS. It looked flamboyant when the website of the college read “Airport- 15 minutes from college campus” less did I realize it was soon going to be nemesis for a sleepaholic like me. And as it turned out.there I was, laying on my bed wide awake for the zillionth time, courtesy the airplanes.

Unlike any other day when I had an option of rolling onto my other side and slowly sliding back into my slumber, this day I didn’t. This day was different. This day was the beginning of TEST1. The time when your mellifluous journey in the semester comes to a screeching halt and you get pounded with thoughts like “What am I doing with my life”, ”Am I letting my family down? “  add to it disastrous past grade sheets and things only get worse and as a matter of fact they were worse. I lay back on my bed staring at the ceiling fan which had gray blades, Continue reading

Numb

The waiting area outside the ER of Jehangir Hospital was just as clean and well maintained as the rest of the hospital. But it didn’t need to be. Nobody who ever sat in those chairs lining the walls of the long corridor ever cared about hygiene or cleanliness while there. Every man who has ever had to sit down on one of those grey plastic chairs has always had far more important things on his mind. Anxiety has filled his head as he has repeatedly gone over every imaginable conclusion to his current situation. Many of the conclusions he has arrived at have been far less pleasant than he can bear, and he has had to drag his thoughts away from them, and set off again on a new line, hoping for a better ending. This battle has raged on within him, until finally a man in a green overalls has walked out and given him news; news that he has inevitably already imagined at some point, but news that evokes strong emotional reactions from him nonetheless. Old Twine

There are few things more distinct to a man than how he takes his tea. A lot could be told about the sort of person he is, if only one was allowed to observe how he took his tea.Or so Roy would like to think. He paused, and thought about it again. Nah, that probably wasn’t true. When you think about it, the only thing you could say about a man by seeing him prepare his tea, was in fact how he prepared his tea. Nevertheless, how he liked that it could still be called unique to him.Roy took a sip from his own cup, smiled, and placed it back down on the desk. This, this was how tea should be enjoyed. He smiled at his grandfather’s mahogany desk before him, he smiled at the fully carpeted British-era furnished room around him, he even smiled at the fresh flowers in the modern glass vase that had been placed on the desk, although the vase was probably a lot newer than most of the other furniture in the room. That didn’t matter. It went well with the regal look of the entire hall. He only stopped smiling when he looked back down at his teacup. It was a new teacup. It made him wince. He reached out, and carefully rotated the cup until the logo on it faced away from him. Then he smiled again.
